About Mr. Kwadwo Baffour Sencherey

Mr. Kwadwo Baffour Sencherey was born in the Ashanti Region of Ghana in 1963. He would later move to the Greater Accra Region with his siblings. (a) Baffour, as affectionately called by his siblings, lived most of his youthful life at Kwadaso Estate with his family. Among his siblings he was the first to join Scripture Union (SU) as he loved the things of God. He was loving and a peace maker. He always preached peace and reconciled people whenever there was a misunderstanding among them. As a young Christian his attitude drew his family to join him in his faith.

After the demise of his father, he lived a while in Kumasi and later joined his late senior brother, Charles in Accra to continue his education. As a trained teacher he taught and trained many children .To continue his love for learning at the Accra Teacher Training College after his primary and secondary school years.

As an avid school teacher and a practicing Christian, he balanced the scales of academia with the joy he had in sharing the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ, especially to his colleagues and students.

(b) Emphatically,we say Mr Baffour was a teacher, a father, a pastor and a mentor to all of us. He was the very epitome of purpose – a man used by God to help us grow into the people God intended us to be. He relentlessly laboured in God’s vineyard to raise us in the ways of God. Daddy B as we affectionately call him was always concerned about our spiritual growth; he would organise prayer sessions to ensure that those who hadn’t received the baptism of the Holy Spirit did. He never wanted anybody to be left out on anything, a true hallmark of a great Shepherd and Apostle. He had a sweet spirit and was full of the love of God

Thus, becoming the first male school teacher at Kaneshie Presbyterian School, Accra, was a fine opportunity to do both the preacher and education teacher he was called to become.

He was one of a gentle, humble and passionate heart. And with little or no hesitation he created the Shining Stars International – a powerful blend of young and talented students seeking to be the World’s greatest Gospel music group. Thirty years on, his vision and initiative are a glorious testimony.

Mr. Baffour never bothered where he met you as a young student, he would always take the opportunity to preach the gospel to you hence inviting many to come join the beautiful family of Shining Stars International. Through preaching, teaching, and evangelism Shining Stars International grew in number and purpose.

Meeting days scheduled were not only for teaching the Word of God but to learn godly humility through prayer and supplication – even before singing rehearsals and other expressions of praise. He made sure the lessons The Stars learnt reflected in their daily acts of living, in their higher learning journeys, careers, and homes and communities. And this was a testimony that has helped many to become who they are today.

The Christian group Shining Stars International would go on to create and be recognized for these milestones:

1998 – participation in an international music concert with an American Choir and the Philanthropic Choir of International Central Gospel Church under the Reverend Eric Berko (as then Music Director).
2001 – “Lecture on AIDS” symposium at the Ministry of the Girl Child Education and live music performance with the government of Ghana’s ministers of state at the Ministry of Education – as invited by a then Member of Parliament for Cape Coast, Madam Christine Churcher.
2002 – ministry at the inaugural “Harvest Praise” Christian worship event summoned by Harvest International Ministry.

2008 – Launch of a new, 8-track music album titled “So Mensa.”
2009 – Organizational restructure to formalize record keeping, progress reporting, and berth/scope of leadership abilities. This “Restructuring 2009″ objective recorded prior years and impact of internal welfare activities.
2009 and forward – expanded and advanced into many other functional teams across Accra and beyond! Kaneshie, Kotobabi, Tesano, and other areas, as well as into a few Senior High Schools nationwide.

(c) Other Socio economic testimonies include:
Payment of members’ school fees, giving some members homes to live because they were homeless, payment of transportations for members who were unable to attend meetings but were affected by lack of fare monies, clothing of some members, etcetera.

He also utilized his teaching profession by holding evening classes for students who needed it and this made most students in both primary and secondary schools especially become exceptional in their various pathways and trades.

The pride and joy that he exuded when he talked about the Shining Stars International was not about the awards we won, or the grand stages we stood on to sing, or the campaign against HIV/AIDS, neither was it the dignitaries the group met through this vision, but it was about these young boys and girls he had won for Christ. His only joy was to see them thrive and blossom in God’s Kingdom.

In December the year of 2021, his biological family and The Stars (his spiritual family) would come together for a final time to pay their final respects and to love on him.

(d) Daddy B always told us that you heard God years ago. This group has seen the genuine prayers and cries of school children, adults and all, the many all nights, half nights and what have you, little did we know that he was getting us ready for the various callings ahead. Daddy, you have a lot of Rev Ministers, Pastors, Apostles, Prophets, Teachers, Music ministers just to mention a few in the house of the lord and today we are eternally grateful.

But as the Word of God promises in 1st Thessalonians 4 verse13 to 18 “we shall meet again.”

We can confidently say about Mr Baffour Sencherey, as the Apostle Paul said in 2nd Timothy 4 verse 7 to 8, “He has fought a good fight, he has finished the race, he has kept the faith, there is therefore laid up for him the crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge will give to him on that day.”

Finally, God’s work through Mr. Baffour Sencherey at Shining Stars International is alive and well,as our gathering here is a product of, or connection to, his witness here on earth.

Till we meet again Daddy B! We miss you. We love you.
